L'Important C'est d'Aimer plot
Freelance photographer Servais Mont, who mainly focuses on making soft porn films for the underworld, meets Nadine Chevalier. Nadine is an actress in mostly raunchy low budget movies. She is married to Jacques, a clownish insecure man who, however, has recovered Nadine after a nervous breakdown. Nadine and Servais are clearly attracted to each other, but they don't want to turn it into a banal affair. To help Nadine, Servais borrows money from his employers from the underworld to finance a theater production of Richard III and to give Nadine a part in it. However, wanting to avoid appearing to be buying her love, he asks the director not to tell Nadine who helped her get the part.
