Not that Tilda Swinton is my favorite actress, but she has played some beautiful roles. As Julia, however, she can't really captivate me and the film therefore completely passes me by in terms of feeling. I don't see anything in this. Nevertheless, it has an interesting story, but I think that the character has too little sympathy in him to live with as a viewer. Originally a book too, which works better than this film adaptation. Not really my thing, although it is not that badly made either.

Julia.

No, I'm not Romeo, but that name isn't really neutral to me. So to see Juliet playing a leading role isn't really neutral either, and if that's a character that doesn't become sympathetic in any way, well, yeah, that's an interesting movie. Not exactly in a positive way. What can I say. -1.

I could actually write the same argument about Tilda Swinton. If another actress can count on the same almost goddess-like reverence from me, I can't think of it right now. It's just painful to see her portray such an unpleasant character, and it's a small consolation that she does it so well. -1.

Furthermore, the story is somewhat mediocre, there is nothing really impressive about the cinematography, and the soundtrack is completely unremarkable. -1. Narratively, it is also a crying shame, because the story is tense and does not choose between drama and thriller - and certainly when you take into account who is going to tell it. -1.

What am I left with? Ah, but films are not about math. What weighs most heavily is that the beautiful image of the poster is absolutely not representative of the film itself.

Entertaining, and sometimes exciting film that at the end, with the second kidnapping, does fly a bit off the rails. The role of the leading actress was not entirely consistent. At the beginning an annoying short-sighted woman, at the end almost the other way around: rather unbelievably smart and decisive in some situations.
The ending - where the annoyingly psychopathic Mexican villain runs off with the ransom - was of course crap.
