When she has a car accident, she breaks her leg. Juliette will now have to do everything she can to survive and not fall prey to the creatures.

Actually expected more.
The flashbacks ensure that the film never really gets up to speed and the tension is therefore somewhat lacking.
The story is only compelling after the apocalypse. Brittany Ashworth manages to convincingly portray her role of survival instinct and the creatures are quite creepy. Some beautiful shots with an eye for the landscape that is beautifully depicted. The various scenes around and in the car are the stronger moments of the film. Unfortunately, too often the focus is brought to the past around the relationship which ultimately seems to be important for the lackluster ending. Talk about an anticlimax.
6/10

Director Mathieu Turi's film debut looks particularly unbalanced, partly due to the constant alternation between the present and the past. Fortunately, Brittany Ashworth handles the film wonderfully and connects all scenes with great conviction, and Grégory Fitoussi and Javier Botet play creditable supporting characters. It is a pity that the film never actually dwells on a single path, but constantly interrupts the apocalyptic setting with a kitschy flashback. Both time frames have some nice ideas, but due to the constant switching, I as a viewer am unable to connect with these worlds. The ending is secretly very beautiful, the acting is strong and Turi shows potential on a cinematographic level, but a film like Hostile turns out to be much more boring than necessary. Perhaps the whole thing would have been better off putting Ashworth's full backstory in the first half so that the second half offers more room for the horror side.

A fairly original twist on the post-apocalyptic monster movie genre, though you have to wait until the very end for it. The monster is well-done. The flashbacks are quite entertaining and quickly reveal a tragic romance. The film is quite purposeful and doesn't waste too much time. But it's also quite simple. It's also difficult to develop much sympathy for the main character.
