"Their love affair would divide a nation."
'En Kongelig Affære' tells the story of Queen Caroline Mathilde (Alicia Vikander) who marries the deranged King Christian VII at the age of 15. In 1769 Johann Friedrich Struensee (Mads Mikkelsen) is hired as doctor to the king who suffers from schizophrenia, among other things. The young queen falls in love with Struensee and the two have a secret affair. The ''forbidden love'' turns out to be a revolution that will change the Nation once and for all.

I didn't find it interesting right away, I even had to struggle a bit through the beginning, but the longer I looked at it, the more I got into it and the better and more interesting I found it to be. I think the acting is very good and the decoration is beautiful. Alicia Vikander is such a beautiful woman! I think Christian is a character that adds a lot of life to the film. Sometimes I think he's quite funny and I like that he's not stiff. I had a great time with this movie, except for the rough start. A 7. 3.5*

I'm not a big fan of movies that take place long ago, but I watched this one anyway because I knew beforehand that it was true. In the end, I thought the result should be there as everything was quite realistic and well executed. The cast was fine and it was nice to see Mikkelsen in a different kind of role than usual. Vikander is perfect for such a role as queen.
Fascinating yet dramatic story. But what an event; it will be your royal family.....
