Flammen & Citronen plot

Flammen (Thure Lidhardt) and Citronen (Mads Mikkelsen) are the most wanted resistance figures by the Nazis. Their flawlessly executed liquidations of numerous Nazi collaborators drive the German occupier and in particular Supreme Commander Gestapochef Hoffmann (Christrian Berkel) to absolute madness. But the orders that Flammen & Citronen receive through the powerful liaison officer Winther become more and more puzzling when it turns out that they now also have to get rid of people who can by no means be labeled as fanatical Nazis. The men begin to doubt Winther's integrity more and more. As Citronen becomes increasingly estranged from his family, Flammen begins an affair with the mysterious agent Ketty. Together, Citronen and Flammen try to take out the chief of the dreaded Nazis.

This is said to be the most expensive Danish film ever. I have not seen very well what this is spent on; usually this goes for sets and special effects; I don't know very well here. I liked this war drama quite well and did not experience it as long-winded. Because you don't really know who is betraying whom, it keeps it interesting and the two resistance fighters who have to kill Danish collaborators are portrayed quite well. A little more tension and some more intense moments could have been added because the weak moments are just a bit too much. Still a small 3.5* for this less known piece of Danish history.

We thought the "Flammen & Citronen.

It's about a resistance group in Denmark that carries out attacks here and there on German bigwigs, Germans who have already shown that they can kill quite well. The group is controlled by

the powerful liaison officer Winther, who claims to be working on behalf of the English and relaying the orders to the group carrying out the attacks. Unfortunately, there are increasing tensions in the group because people doubt the power that Winther apparently has as a liaison.

The film has a great story, the acting is good, as we are used to from the Danes, and it is also exciting from just about the beginning.

As far as we're concerned an 8!

Well, it's hard to write a review about this. Although the lens is a good film, it was a bit disappointing for me. Let me start off that the trailer suggests a different movie than the reality. The trailer shows a lot of action, while I experienced it as a somewhat long-winded, slow film. I had a hard time putting myself in the lead characters. You don't get to know flames at all. Lemons slightly better. Acting is good, directing is not wrong, based on truth, the war years are also portrayed realistically. And yet, it didn't get to me. Perhaps a little more drama could have been introduced here and there or maybe a somewhat shorter playing time. It was a little too slow for me. If you are going to watch the film, it also helps to read a short piece on the internet about how the Scandinavian countries were during the war. Otherwise it is difficult to understand some parts directly and it gives a bit more context that (unfortunately) is not provided by the film. The movie isn't bad, but I've definitely seen better Scandinavian war movies like Kampen om Tungtvannet and Den 12. Mann. This film really doesn't reach that level. All in all I can't give more than 3 stars.
