The concept of the Dekalog series intrigues me and I am a big fan of Kieslowski. Promising start to the Dekalog series.

What is particularly striking is Preisner's beautiful music. The father and son bond and taking into account the possible fact, there is enough tension to remain captivating. The tear down Maria's cheek is the absolute highlight. Difficult to judge because I don't really see it as a film but as a philosophical issue. It triggered me, so purpose successful.

It feels a bit strange to rate Dekalog as separate parts, since it's intended and broadcast as a mini-series anyway. But since this is so pulled apart, we're going to participate in it anyway.

The beginning of the series is very promising, especially because of the beautiful music, nice development of the theme of this story and a few pictures of scenes. Also strongly acted by the three main roles. 4*

Amazing what Kieslowski can make you feel within an hour.

The first story in the Dekalog series immediately hits you hard and promises a lot of good for the other 9 parts. The underlying theme comes across well, although you do not necessarily have to have knowledge of any form of religion. And the topics discussed here are all interesting. The father and son relationship is very nice to watch. The chemistry between the two is clearly present. The beginning and end are of unparalleled beauty. But what happens in between is also more than worth it.

Preisner is of great importance here. He ensures more than half that all the emotions that Kieslowski wants to convey come across correctly. The cinematography is great. Nice how Kieslowski and Zdort portray the buildings here. Almost become a character in this story yourself. Color palette also fits very well here. Especially at the end.

Very nice start to the Dekalog series.
