Afonso decides, when he retires, to live quietly in the suburbs. During his first week off, in a hot summer, he becomes involved in the problems of his daughter, his friends and his neighborhood, and learns to live with them again. Even his relationship with Isaura, his neighbor from years ago, changes. A relationship of friendship, love and respect develops.
