When young Robert Morley (Randolph Scott) loses his wife while giving birth to their son, he is so saddened that he wants nothing to do with the child. He leaves the child with family and goes abroad to complete his medical studies. Returning home after six years, Robert is now a successful psychiatrist and married to the beautiful Martha. Trouble begins when Dr. Morley sees his son again and the man's feelings change completely. He starts the fight to win custody of his son, but his marriage also goes wrong because it turns out not so easy to suddenly live with three family members.
