"He takes your life in his hands!"
Poor military doctor Tom Owen has been able to build a genteel practice for the wealthy with the help of the influential Helen Curtis of Pittsburgh. While Tom is happy with the money and the prestige, his heart is in helping the poor and prefers helping the families of the local coal miners. During an exceptional crisis, Tom is acutely forced to choose between living the luxurious life with Helen or being available to the poor miners.
