U.N. Me plot
The image of the UN is drastically bad. International peace and security are not the only things that are in turmoil. There are also countless stories that show that the contribution of the UN and its main body has done the Security Council more harm than good in many of the conflict zones where it intervened. Documentary makers Groff and Horowitz take the viewer on a brutal journey through a number of places where UN missions took place. Through interviews with those involved -- who sometimes wish to remain anonymous -- and archive material, he reveals facts about obvious abuses and scandals surrounding UN missions and people. Such as a 'forgotten' shooting in Côte d'Ivoire, where UN soldiers opened fire on unarmed demonstrators. Or the 'Oil for Food' program in Iraq, which ultimately benefited the wrong people. And Horowitz brings up the harrowing story of the UN soldiers who watched helplessly at the genocide in Rwanda.
