Telling Truths in Arusha plot
Priest Hormisdas Nsengimana is on trial for genocide and crimes against humanity before the Rwanda Tribunal in Arusha, Tanzania. During the 1994 genocide, Hormisdas was a priest and headmaster of the Collège Christ-Roi, a Catholic secondary school in the southern Rwandan town of Nyanza. He is said to be affiliated with a group of Hutu extremists who carried out targeted attacks on Tutsis. He is also accused of direct and indirect involvement in the murders. The documentary gives access to the courtroom. Fifteen years later, the judge must base his judgment on oral testimony, which argues both for and against the priest. How does he interpret the different truths of the witnesses? And what is done with the fact that many do not dare to testify for fear of reprisals?
