One Lucky Elephant plot
"A ten thousand pound love story"
Where does an elephant go after a life in the circus? After sixteen years of loyal service, circus producer David Balding realizes that Flora, the African orphaned elephant he adopted, no longer enjoys performing. Concerned for his elephant's happiness, he embarks on a quest for an alternative shelter. A decision that he does not take overnight, because the relationship between Boulding and Flora is a special one. Documentary filmmaker Lisa Leeman and her team follow Boulding during his ten years scouring town and country in search of zoos, safari camps and reserves that can provide Flora with what she needs. However, the journey to Flora's retirement is a difficult and emotional one. As an overprotective and loving father, refusing to recognize his daughter's shortcomings, David continues his quest. When Flora is also diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, their father-daughter relationship is unexpectedly tested, and with it their hopes of a peaceful retirement.
