The Night My Number Came Up plot
"12 Men and a Girl Re-Living a Dream That Fortold Disaster"
At a trendy Hong Kong dinner party, a pilot is asked to reveal revealing details about a dream in which eight people take off in a Dakota DC-3 from Bangkok to Tokyo. This Dakota then crashes into the Japanese mountains. Among the listeners is Air Marshal Hardie, who has to fly to Tokyo the next day. Hardie initially puts this dream story aside, because his plane is a Liberator and only six people are on the flight. But when Hardie arrives at the airport, he learns that the Liberator has mechanical problems and is replaced by a Dakota. Shortly before the Dakota is about to leave, two more soldiers board. This brings the number of people to eight. Hardie fears the pilot's dream will come true and he will be doomed to die.
