LA 92 plot
"The past is prologue"
Los Angeles, March 3, 1991. When arrested, black cab driver Rodney King is assaulted by four white police officers. The video recording of this is still burned into the retinas of many Americans. When the four officers are acquitted in the spring of 1992, it sparks violent riots in Los Angeles that last for six days. Afterwards, it appears that more than 50 people have been killed and that more than $1 billion in damage has been caused to South Central and surrounding neighborhoods. Directors Daniel Lindsey and TJ Martin look back on this turbulent period 25 years after the acquittal. Using archival footage, news items and unseen footage, they paint a picture of the riots and the stormy relationship between the African-American population and the law enforcement officers of Los Angeles.
