Island Belarus plot
Belarusian President Lukashenko conducts a military parade on the imposing Victory Square in Minsk. A tightly directed spectacle in authentic Soviet style. Then the camera jumps to the countryside, where a grubby old man chops down a tree "for wooden people". The old man lives in an abandoned village, where the houses are about to collapse. In his garden, days are relived: he has built a miniature village of wood and straw, complete with religious scenes and industrious inhabitants. The old man rules over them as Lukashenko over the Belarusians, but "living people do not want to listen to Alexander Lukashenko".
