Haus Tugendhat plot
Villa Tugendhat was completed in 1930 and is located in Brno, Czech Republic. With his modern architecture, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe tried to realize a utopian example of functionalism. The clients were the couple Fritz and Greta Tugendhat. This documentary shows the atmosphere between the two great World Wars, the occupation by Nazi Germany, the eviction from the villa and emigration of the Tugendhat family and the first post-war years when the house served as a dance school. In the 1950s, the villa became a therapy center for injured children. In 1992, the villa was the site of the negotiations leading to the partition of Czechoslovakia. In 2001 the house was declared a cultural heritage site by UNESCO. In 2010, the costly restoration of Villa Tugendhat began.
