Dodelijk Dilemma plot
In 'Deadly Dilemma', three general practitioners are followed during the run-up and aftermath of applying euthanasia to one of their patients. How do doctors feel about euthanasia emotionally? The film explores 'the paradox' as doctors often see euthanasia; they think rationally that it should be possible, but feel resistance because killing someone is unnatural. Euthanasia confronts doctors with their own emotions, views and views on life and death. Assessment criteria such as 'quality of life' and 'unbearable suffering' appear to be flexible concepts in practice. Who decides when the limit of an acceptable life is reached? The documentary shows the doctor's reflections, loneliness, fear, dilemmas, rituals and emotions during this period. Do they go through a grieving process after the patient's death? And what impact does euthanasia have on their private lives?
