An early precursor to End of Watch (2012) - MovieMeter.nl. And a good one at that. The film follows several LA cops during their nighttime patrols. The risks they face and the passion that drives them are the common thread. The police officer is supposed to be the protector of the average citizen and is at his service. A beautiful scene in which Scott stands up for a group of undocumented Mexicans who are being exploited by their landlord. Stacy Keach is by far the most interesting character, who gives everything to his job and sacrifices his personal life for it. A bit moralizing perhaps, and actually a long promotional film for the police. Nevertheless, it's a captivating film that's well-made, with interesting characters, some surprising scenes, and a good atmosphere.

A good film about a group of Los Angeles police officers trying to make the best of things. It's rather fragmented in its approach, but that's not really a problem here (it's more about the daily grind of the police force). The main character is well-performed (particularly thanks to a great performance by Stacy Keach). It's also quite interesting as a period piece. Easily 3.5 stars.
