This film is about the life of Audie Murphy, who plays herself. He was born in 1924 as one of many children. The father soon gave up. When his mother dies, he enlists. He is rejected by the air force and navy, but he finds a place in the army. He witnessed the invasions in North Africa, Southern Italy and Southern France. He eventually received 24 awards, including an order for the day from President Truman, for single-handedly killing 240 German soldiers. He became a legend.
