Key Witness plot
Architect Milton Higby considers himself an inventor, but all the objects he invents don't sell, and that puts a strain on his marriage to Martha. When his wife isn't home for the weekend, Milton goes to the horse races with a friend and he wins quite a bit of money. Milton shares this money with his boyfriend and the two girlfriends, who are both accompanying them. When Milton wakes up from his daze after a drinking party, he finds one of the girls who accompanied him shot and killed next to him and is suspected of murder.
