"Once You Know The Faces You Will Begin To Understand The Story"
This war drama consists of three parts: In the first part 'Words' the young monk Kiril, who has taken a vow of silence, is confronted with a fugitive Albanian girl Zamira. A vengeful mob invades the monastery in search of her. For 'Faces' we move to London where the photo editor Anne (Katrin Cartlidge) is confronted with images on a daily basis. She herself is torn between her husband and her lover, the Macedonian photographer Aleksander. Anne refuses to go to Macedonia with Aleksander. However, the violence also appears to be close by in London. In 'Pictures', Aleksander is back in Macedonia, where he is confronted with the ethnic religious struggle that is tearing his home village. When he tries to save Zamira, the consequences are fatal.
