Very messy movie, with a lot of talk. The first half resembles a long intro - jumping off the bat, with lots of explanatory lyrics, and whipped fluff. It's only halfway through that something of a story seems to unfold. The music choice is also annoying, which is very distracting. I sometimes found myself listening to the music more than following the messy story.

Meaningless rise-and-fall film about a bunch of psychopaths who think money is the most important thing in life. The style tries to be cool but is mainly annoying (the first half hour seems like an introduction to the film, but it just stays that way) and the score is overloaded with classics. De Niro pulls his famous face and why things are so bad between Stone and him is never really clear, while that is the basis for the drama. Well, apparently Scorsese was too busy ruminating on mafia acts to pay attention to this. The appeal of these kinds of films escapes me completely.
