In any case, you can expect a comedy to make you laugh. However, I didn't get much further than a few chuckles. The characters in the film were very caricatural. That can be fun, but it was very annoying here. The guest roles of Sandler and Seinfeld, among others, were the same.

The form of the film (a road trip through New York) was actually the only successful element. However, a witty story within this format was missing.

No, it wasn't good.

Rock stays true to himself in this gentle satire on modern media. He plays the role of former stand-up comedian Andre Allen, who is best known for a comedy film trilogy in which he plays Hammy The Bear, a cop in a bear costume. Now he is desperately trying to draw attention to his latest film project, a historical drama in which he plays the leader of a slave revolt in Haiti. But the press and his fans are more interested in his upcoming marriage to reality TV star Erica Long [Gabrielle Union]. Andre spends some time with Chelsea Brown [Rosario Dawson, a journalist for The New York Times. Rock and Dawson are good and Rock has some nice observations about the media world in store for us, but the story is a bit thin and the screenplay unfortunately lapses into tasteless asides every now and then. For those who are interested, there are amusing cameos from some of America's top comedians.

Entertaining and bombastic enough not to become tiresome, but director and lead actor Chris Rock clearly overestimates himself. His acting comes across as rather forced and wooden, something that is especially noticeable because of the flood of cameos from other comedians. A familiar face is constantly introduced to distract the viewer from the fact that Rock doesn't have much to say. The build-up between him and Rosario Dawson doesn't seem to get off the ground and the humor doesn't really hit the mark, but the general loudness does make it all somewhat digestible. Personally, I appreciated the relatively open ending and Tracy Morgan plays a great supporting role, but these are more or less the highlights of the film.
