"Did she...or did she?"
When William Gridley arrives in London he rents a part of Carly Hardwicke's house and falls in love with her. Gridley doesn't know that many people think she killed her husband, but his boss, the American ambassador, knows this and takes it quite seriously. When Gridley introduces Carly to his boss, he keeps his job and a detective is promptly assigned to the case. If the two decide to help out, it's the start of a lot of trouble.
