Truvy's Louisiana hair salon is the central location of this melodrama centered around six southern belles. Truvy and Annelle take care of women's hair, while wealthy Ouiser Boudreaux and restless Clairee regularly drop by for the latest gossip and exchange of wisdom. Shelby is a bride-to-be who faints during a visit to the salon, M'Lynn is her mother. What starts out as a light-hearted comedy - or rather: an accumulation of one liners - turns more towards tragedy when one member of the group dies.

Good film about a number of women in a beauty salon in the south of America. Not really a story, but the film has enough nice dialogues and characters. The men clearly have a minor role here. The delightful cast is a joy to watch at work and the hairstyles are also worth a mention.

A film without a real story, but with some characterful women. A dramatic event brings the film into a small acceleration, but in its entirety the film does not bring enough. The whole "course of life" is nicely filmed with a positive message (ie live goes on)
