Nice concept that is poorly developed. The characters come and go (how about Jolie) and the fight/clash between the charismatic actors Cusack and Thornton unfortunately also ends in a sofa.

Standard work on.

Newell.

Already the 6th film of his that I see. You rarely know in advance what he will come up with, there is not much line in his work. Crime, Harry Potter, romantic vicissitudes ... Pushing Tin is also known as comedy. The only constant I see is that it's pretty bad.

There isn't much comedy there. It is mainly a drama that is put down a bit more lightly. With somewhat thicker characters, some cockerel behavior and some plot elements that don't exactly make it believable. Outside of the setting, there is also little striking about this film.

Then it comes down to the actors and characters, but they don't do much. Thornton can do better, Cusack is his annoying self, Jolie and Blanchett don't add anything either. So you have a quartet of main actors, none of whom have a nice role. The secondary characters are also dull and gray, just like Newell's direction. Functional and lifeless, but stretched over two hours.

No, no one who is slightly annoying all the time. Considering the playing time, this is quite disturbing. On par for Newell, that is.

This is a slightly better film than the rating suggests. Nice, cocky battle between the 2 protagonists. And Jolie in Eva costume as a bonus.
