One A.M. plot

"An inspiring and fantastic one-man show!"

After a wild night out, Charlie is dropped off at home by a cab, dead drunk. Then he discovers that he has lost his key. An open window becomes his entrance to the house, but really every object he encounters becomes an insurmountable obstacle. Can't a man even get a rest at one o'clock in the morning?

Exceptional Chaplin film in the sense that we only see Chaplin working solo here. Chaplin

battling the door of the taxi, a rotating table and a folding bed.

And for a change mediated instead of a pauper. It should be clear

that there is no story. But fun antics again from Chaplin.

And the last of the four and also the least of the box.

Drunkard comes home and finds from the taxi to the front door, and from the entrance to his bed, practically every object as an obstacle on the way to what he wants most and that is under the wool. Clever idea? Probably. Dated? Pretty. Well executed? Myo. Repetitive? Yes very much. And I especially like the last one. Scenes such as with that bed or the taxi door, for example, just take too long. It's all better than Tillie, but I didn't find this one really good or entertaining.

For once he does not appear to belong to the working - sometimes unemployed - class. So he can be drunk in style and let us laugh at that well-to-do citizen in this one-man show, with loads of funny things. Maybe a bit long-winded in certain parts: the table, the stairs, the bed, but still a masterful Charlie.

A beautiful restoration, right.
