The Fireman plot
A firefighter and his fire chief are both in love with a young woman. Her father makes an agreement with the commander: if the fire brigade has his house burned down so that the father can collect the insurance money, the commander may marry his daughter. However, the old man sets the house on fire while his daughter is still upstairs. The firefighter decides to act.
