Sloane and Jackson both hate being single on vacation, where they are constantly faced with the judgment of their meddling families. When these two strangers meet, they promise to be each other's "holidate" for every celebratory occasion of the year ahead.

If the humor has to come from laxatives, you know it's badly wrong. A very bland romantic comedy with pretty poorly executed dialogues. That was the most striking thing, there are constant small breaks in the dialogues, which makes the whole unintentionally very uncomfortable. I blame it on poor chemistry between the actors.
Anyway, the plot itself is also pretty mediocre. It is all very predictable and many clichés are thrown around us. Of course there is a scene in which one of the protagonists silences a whole crowd to declare love to the other protagonist with lots of oohs and ahs from the crowd for example. And finally a lot of sidekicks who add nothing at all. Such a black panther... The aunt has the most, but it all feels way too easy.
I really can't do anything with this. 0.5*.

Yes, quite a nice snack. I usually don't like this genre, so I'll leave it behind soon. Give it a chance because of the cast. The two clearly have chemistry and although not all jokes are equally successful, I had a good time with them.

Holidate is a Christmas movie with a nice story which is illustrated by good acting. You can't always claim that when watching a Christmas movie. Had a great time with it. It's not THE Christmas movie of the year, but it's definitely okay.
