Good film about a teenage boy with a musical talent who only has a few months to live. This tearjerker is based on a true story and does what it's supposed to do. The characters are a bit forced sympathetic, but the film knows how to move. I just liked the previous film by director Justin Baldoni, which is comparable in many ways. A small 3.5 stars.

True teen drama that, however, remains too much on the surface. As a downright tearjerker without a doubt a success, but overall nothing special. Although… Neve Campbell in Lourdes; that's a bit scary.

Strong drama that never gets too heavy despite the weight of the subject. Acting performances are of a high level and the film stays close to the truth. Only actually Zach never broke up with Amy.... that was added to give the characters the right depth more quickly that I can understand. Excellent soundtrack and the whole thing comes across as authentic. Sentimental? Well, of course it is sentimental at times. I didn't find it too sweet and it didn't irritate me at all. The film is not very surprising, but that has not been disturbing for me either. In any case, you are limited in the script if you want to stay close to reality. In the genre, an excellently developed film in the line of The Fault in Our Stars (2014) which I also really appreciated. What stayed with me most of this film is how incredibly handsome I think of Zach (the real Zach) how he dealt with his illness, how you remain so optimistic and manage to get the most out of it during your last year / months . And the unconditional love of the people around him. A great film that really has little to criticize. 4.5 stars (not five because the film is not very innovative and does not take risks).
