Helter Skelter plot
Susan Graham is a disgruntled heiress whose joint guardians are both trying to get her married to their odious cousins. On her nineteenth birthday, the five of them visit a nightclub. Coincidentally, radio star Nick Martin is also present, which Susan loathes. When the main performer of the night, a ventriloquist, performs, Susan laughs so hard at his routine that she develops a bad case of hiccups. While Susan tries to be cured of her ailment in various ways, Nick begins to develop feelings for her.
