Down Periscope plot

"A rusty sub. A rebel commander. A renegade crew. When destiny called, they should have hung up."

All his life, Commander Tom Dodge has dreamed of piloting a nuclear submarine, and after some rigorous training, he is finally certified. Because he is much loved by his crew, it is an unpleasant surprise for him when he is told that he will not be promoted. The Navy orders him to engage in a naval battle with an old rusted World War II submarine and a set of misfits as crew, which he later learns is deliberately meant to lose. This is to ensure that the superior US naval fleet emerges as an overwhelming winner. Don't let this please the Commander and he will do everything he can to make his "opponents" a chop.

Very mediocre film, which is only a little funny at times. Deadly for a comedy film. Weak direction (too clearly visible bluescreens), weak acting. One of the characters even caused quite a bit of irritation ( the one who is 'thrown overboard'. Only the scene in which a crew member imitates a whale was worth it . I still enjoyed myself somewhat and luckily the film didn't last too long, hence no minimum score.

I've seen a movie, but I really don't remember anything about it. Kelsey Grammar is a sympathetic actor, but has nothing to do with the stupid script in a movie like this. The rest of the cast already had little talent to improve it, but the presence of Rob Schneider already betrayed that there was little left in it. I didn't laugh. In fact, at times I wondered if the movie was really meant to be comical. If I'd remembered anything else, I'd make it a longer review, but I really didn't remember anything else. In one ear, out the other.

Nice film if you don't have too high expectations of comedies with a military setting. Kelsey Grammar does well as quiet. almost paternal commander. The rest of his crew is made up of a handful of carefully selected lunatics. Add to that the fact that one of the officers turns out to be an attractive young lady, then the comical entanglements are up for grabs.

Not a movie you want to see every year, maybe once every 5 years. All in all, worth a '3'.
