Luther Krank (Allen) is a man who decides to skip Christmas and everything that comes with it. Instead, he goes on vacation with his wife Nora (Curtis). But when his daughter decides at the last minute to come home for the holidays, he is forced to meet all the Christmas obligations again.

Somehow I always watch (more) Christmas movies in the summer. Around the holidays I have my regular movies, but outside of that I like to watch some new movies to get inspiration for the holidays. That's how I came across this one on Netflix, to admire Tim Allen again in a Christmas movie, I was immediately hooked. The Santa Clause is one of my favorite movies and Allen is my favorite Santa!
The movie started off a bit exaggerated, but come on, I understand somehow. Unfortunately, this remained the entire film, until the annoying thing. Moments that were supposed to be funny, I found quite irritating and way too exaggerated. Just give me a Christmas movie with a good Christmas spirit and I'll be a happy woman! The story is fine and could have been quite something, but the elaboration of it is (very) mediocre, to the point of being boring.
Tim Allen performed as I expected from him, basically the same level as in The Santa Clause (although opinions are divided on that too). I've never seen Curtis play in a comedy before and I think I'll just keep it that way, I was really annoyed by the exaggerated stuff. I do stick with her horror films, where she usually manages to put down a good role.
Anyway, despite the negative sides, I did enjoy this film. The time passed rather slowly, but the last half hour, on the other hand, very quickly. The film is the best in the last half hour, which is the moment that I particularly enjoyed. The first hour went up and down a bit. All in all a tight enough, maybe I'll watch it again at Christmas. 3*

Great Christmas movie with a nice story full of clichéd situations and ditto characters. They all play their part with a lot of character and there is plenty of chemistry between Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis. Very much enjoyed!

Funny, cozy Christmas film for young and old with of course also a warm message that there is nothing wrong with. Still often able to smile with this film and that is already a merit. In addition, the Christmas feeling is certainly present with many typical Christmas elements in a Christmas film. Nice movie ! 7/10
