Apparently Quentin Dupieux is at his best with comedies and for my first from the man this one is "Au Poste!" quite a spectacular example.

The police apparatus is certainly not spared, but when the person being questioned is also absorbed in the absurdity, the film really takes off.

Dreams and reality constantly mix and the confusion increases by the minute, side characters offer grateful solutions and inevitably the ending falls into the same fold.

Poelvoorde proves once again that he has mastered several facets of acting, especially as a comedian.

Sometimes a bit hard to bite through if you like realism and do not follow Dupieux's fantasy world.

Still a small 3.5 as far as I'm concerned.

Tomorrow I will see the latest Dupieux via the IFFR and I thought it would be a good idea to watch my third of his this evening. The awkwardness and strangeness are wonderful. The Jeroom look-alike is great, and certainly the interaction between the two main characters. It is a small film, largely in one location, so you have to be able to handle that. Also against the absurd. Just a police interrogation, and that doesn't seem to hold the attention, but it's not boring (ok, the film is also short). In fact, as soon as the flashbacks come in it becomes even better. Playing with reality is always fun, especially this way. Light-hearted, crazy and even a crazy twist. You don't have to understand it to be entertained. For the enthusiast, and apparently that's what I really became. (7.5)

This is a very nice Dupieux. Particularly enjoyed the absurd interrogation at the police station between the inspector and a man who reports a suspicious death. What a great match between Poelvoorde and Ludig. The latter, by the way, looks exactly like the Flemish comedian Jeroom, perhaps not so unknown in the Netherlands.

A witness is considered a suspect and his statement takes quite some time. Although the police inspector doesn't really feel like it, he takes plenty of time.

On top of that, the scenes with the one-eyed colleague are great. What a climax at the end, I didn't see coming. And then continue with it in Dupieux style, but by then the credits were already there. Nice!
