Adventure in Manhattan plot

The arrogant crime reporter George Melville accurately repeats the predictions about jewelry theft. George meets Claire Peyton, who leads him on a mysterious adventure. Somewhat later, George meets producer Blackton Gregory, who reveals that Claire is actually an actress. She is hired by other reporters who want to see George go off. Claire performs in a play by Gregory, but that's just a cover for Gregory's henchmen digging a tunnel to an art gallery. Gregory is in reality the master thief Belaire, who everyone thinks is dead. Claire, now in love with George and ignorant of his true nature, tells Belaire important information, which he uses against George.
