"He knew all women! Their lives...Loves...Their souls!"

The story about Rembrandt begins at the height of his fame, around 1642. Money is pouring in. But Rembrandt's wife Saskia dies, his work becomes darker and more idiosyncratic and he cares less and less about the wishes of his clients. Around 1659 Rembrandt is bankrupt. He seeks comfort from his housekeeper, the beautiful Hendrickje, whom he is unfortunately not allowed to marry.
