Mediocre film in which an animal detective is asked to track down a missing white bat. The simple plot doesn't really captivate and this sequel is more of the same. The humor is often infantile and there is sporadic laughter. Jim Carrey knows how to have fun and throws all his comedic talent into battle, but his role becomes a bit irritating at a certain point.

Nice sequel.

Basically more of the same. That is, somewhat easy and bland comedy, which is completely saved by Carrey's performance. I'm not even the biggest Carrey fan, but that's how I like to see him doing it. Full commitment and keep going.

The good thing is that the films are not too long and have a nice pace. The story is there, but it's not relevant at all. It hardly makes any sense, so it's no more than an excuse for the humor. The big advantage is that you don't have to go through a lot of poor drama, like in most comedies. Oedekerk just sticks to the main genre.

Other than that, there isn't much to say about it. If you don't like the role of Carrey then this is a dragon of a movie, if you think he's a genius then it's great. I thought it was pretty funny, but it's not more than some simple comedy entertainment. Nice to look back (I think I saw this in the cinema too), another old one that I can cross off.

2.5*

Ace Ventura When Nature Calls is again great entertainment as a sequel to the first film. Jim Carrey at his best so to speak.
