The daughter of Mrs. Jacoby, a Jewish widow living in Brooklyn, is going to marry Jerome, a diplomat who has to go to Japan. After a while, Mrs. Jacoby decides to go to her daughter in Japan. Once there, she meets Koichi Asano, a kind, distinguished and wealthy man with an impressive house. After the two meet, a romance slowly develops.
