Jessica Lange does a very good job as Patsy Cline, but it is especially the beautiful music by the very best country singer of all time that lifts this film to a high level. The songs "Crazy" and "Sweet Dreams" provide goosebumps every time.

In terms of story, the film is a lot less than "Coal Miner's Daughter about the life and career of Patsy's friend Loretta Lynn.

Good film about a woman who has a short but successful career as a country singer. A fairly standard musical biopic about Patsy Cline. Her life story (her second marriage, her music) is entertaining enough. Jessica Lange and Ed Harris both do well and manage to bring enough enthusiasm into their roles. A small 3.5 stars.

Jessica Lange stars as country star Patsy Cline, who died tragically young. I'm no expert on American dialects, but it sounds nice and southern here, doesn't it? Ed Harris is also great as her macho guy. Their combination provides a storyline because of the domestic struggles they go through. And of course Patsy Cline's career is one in which she shines briefly but powerfully. Unfortunately, the 'fall' part of the rise and fall can also be taken literally. Nice soundtrack of course. What a wonderful voice she had. Her main songs are featured. The rest of the fabulous (mainly) fifties also comes along somewhere with snippets of Sinatra, Presley and Gene Vincent in the background and foreground. Beautiful portrayal of the times and the love for country is beautifully captured. Shot on location in Memphis and Nashville, among others. Lovely.
