"She Chased a Man Around the World to Marry Another!"
When jeweler Milton Devereux is murdered and his diamond collection stolen, crime reporter Torchy Blane is assigned to the case. Torchy also learns that Milton had a run-in with Sonny Croy. Croy is a reporter for the rival Star-Telegram and the son of the paper's owner, who is constantly in trouble with gambling debts and an outstanding loan.
