Torchy Runs for Mayor plot
"Ever see a political ring turned into a wedding ring? No? Then just keep an eye on that right honorable honey...Torchy Blane!"
Torchy Blane writes a series of articles criticizing Mayor John Saunders, accusing him of conspiring with local crime boss Dr. Jerry Dolan and Dolan's illegal activities. Torchy gets all of her information directly from the mayor's office, using a wiretap. Torchy's friend, Detective Steve McBride, is concerned about the articles, believing they put her in danger. Dolan asks his allies to pull ads from Torchy's newspaper and pressure her editor to cancel her articles. Torchy is determined to prove her articles are true.
