A very nice martial arts film, where the story doesn't matter much. You sometimes have to suppress the urge to fast forward to the next fight. Those fights are, as usual with Chan, excellent. Also a funny role by Anita Mui.

Nice review.

I don't really agree with my original message anymore, in the sense that I don't think this film really fits within the typical 90s HK violence. More of an offshoot of the Shaw Bros movies, mixed with Jackie Chan's signature style. The manic/disturbed/fast of the other contemporaries is not really part of this.

As a film itself, therefore, find it a little less. Humor and drama don't really work well, you just have to wait for the action scenes. Fortunately, they still manage to convince. Liu and Chan are a very strong duo, with the final fight being the icing on the cake. That may be one of the best martial arts scenes from the 90s, especially Chan's inimitable moves are genius.

Starts off a bit stiff, but every time the focus is on the action, this film easily convinces. A classic for good reason, although I am a bit more of a fan of the Hark/Yuen + Jet Li films myself. But for the enthusiast a must-see.

4.0* and a extended review
