Seen it before but I didn't like it. The story is totally unbelievable (too ridiculous for words actually) and it's better to say little. It doesn't get exciting or exciting anywhere in the film and the cast doesn't manage to convince anywhere either, Louis Gossett Jr still went somewhat but Jason Gedrick was a drama to watch. Melora Hardin was a hottie in this film and she still is (sometimes admired in the series "The Office").

Silly action film made for teenage boys who love airplanes (en Top Gun (1986)). Louis Gossett Jr gives this movie a lot more credibility than it deserves. The story concerns a teenager who bombs the camp of an Arab villain [David Suchet] with an F-16 to save his father from execution. The film itself is even more ridiculous than the story, but the flying scenes are beautifully portrayed. And yes, for some reason three more such cases followed...

A film from the unsurpassed "America, fuck yeah!" era. Mistake can be quite tasty, because this was just a fun childhood memory that served as tasty video feed for me at the time.

What has been said about the credibility of the plot and the propaganda-like character (those kinds of films were already co-financed by the armed forces, otherwise you really can't borrow those F-16s) I can agree with. The enemy is one dimensional bad, but I think that's fine for a movie like that. If you are looking for the nuances of international conflicts, it is better to watch Homeland. I found the part where Doug's buddies help pave the way for his plan to be pretty stupid and annoying. But it's still very entertaining. The action is fine.

David Suchet, who plays the enemy general, was also in Falcon and the Snowman, as Russian. And that Russian accent he spoke with again here didn't exactly help here as he now has to represent a Middle Eastern jerk.

Gossett does a decent job as mentor Chappy, but I found his delivery to be a bit off and his facial expression too monotonous. Gedrick, the young Doug, later played a psycho in the very strong series Bosch and you can hear that drawling voice in this film, which makes him seem a bit different, but I didn't think he was wrong.

I did feel like putting on the other Iron Eagles once in a while (I never got further than 2, by the way, but I liked that one too).
