The Black Stallion Returns plot
When Alex was very young, his life was saved in a shipwreck by a beautiful black Arabian horse. Alex takes 'Black' to New York where he teaches him to ride. Black eventually becomes a great racehorse. The problem, however, is that the noble four-legged friend still belongs to the Moroccan sheikh Abu Ben Ishak and several people are walking around in the Sahara with plans to steal the horse. When Black disappears one day, Alex immediately follows him to the Arabian desert, but his great friend is not easily found.

The first film (3.5*) was slightly better because of the human-animal bond that was developed more deeply. Still, I didn't find this sequel disappointing at all. Alec's horse is stolen from New York by its rightful owner, but the boy chases him to Morocco and across the desert to find "The Black". The pace is high and with the portrayal of the Arabs it never gets ridiculous. This film is one of the least known Francis Ford Coppola productions, but not bad at all.
