Jean Novalic has proclaimed himself a kind of prophet who wants to save the earth from damnation. His brother Martial is an astronomer, a sober man who sticks to the facts. Martial sees a comet approaching Earth and calculates that it will collide with our planet in ten days and expects the Earth to shatter.
