Mahler plot

Biographical film about the life of the composer Gustav Mahler. The film depicts Mahler's life through a series of flashbacks as he sits on the train on his way to Vienna, returning to compose his final coda. The flashbacks relate to his bad childhood, his not-so-great relationship with his wife Alma, his anti-Semitic behavior and his obsession with his own mortality, a neurotic fear that dominated him until his death in 1911.
