Milking the commercial success of Westworld – which I already found very disappointing, measured by the way I view films now. I hadn't seen this one at the time, so now for the first time. Not really positive.

The story is actually quite strong again, though not as fresh as in Westworld itself. But the execution is very mediocre once more, and the production values are befitting an extremely low-budget production – but this really wasn't one. Bad production and bad direction, and both uninspired; that is really all I can make of it. Just compare it to something like Star Wars or the films Kubrick made around the same time – that really is a world of difference.

The only positive point, really, is that Brynner makes a brief appearance, even if it is little more than a cameo.

Nice cult movie.

I saw Westworld a long time ago, and that film certainly made an impression. I saw the sequel, Futureworld, for the first time today, and it certainly didn't disappoint me.

I particularly liked how the so-called futuristic touches, such as the chess game and the boxing robots, were done. For me, this film was primarily a relaxing viewing experience with a number of, probably unintentional, funny moments. The film is never suspenseful, but it is all the more entertaining.

Throughout the entire film, I was curious to see what discovery they would come up with this time. Additionally, the pace was quite high and the main characters were not unsympathetic.

Above Average

PS Now showing on AMC

Fonda and Danner are good opposites in this otherwise mediocre sequel to Westworld. What is cleverly conceived for its time is the "stealing" of human material which is subsequently placed into robotic technology... way ahead of its time and a good warning given the current development of AI. Otherwise, the film meanders along and reminds me of a cross between episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man, Charles Angels, and Knight Rider. 2.3*
