Still pretty scary stuff, those scarecrows. Those flashbacks were a shame indeed, a very cheap way to weave the story in. Apart from that I enjoyed myself with this, a cornfield remains a nice location for something like that and of the cast only the girl didn't do so well.

Fair. 2.5*.

Nice idea, bad acting and a lot of repetition. Cornfield remains a great setting for a horror film, nicely claustrophobic. The scarecrow comes across as quite scary but sewing that mask started to get really boring. Furthermore, the stupid decisions of the main characters as we are used to in this genre. Nice for once but otherwise nothing special.

Director Brett Simmons is perfectly capable of creating entertaining horror films, but his reworked film Husk is of lesser quality. Fortunately, this is not due to the cast members, because everyone does their best to shape their character. The fact that the script then gives them little room to seek distinction is more a limitation of Simmons himself, who was also responsible for the screenplay. Husk also offers some gore and deft camerawork, but little effective tension building and a background that remains completely unused in terms of potential. As a result, the film becomes boring after a while, but fortunately it does not take too long to fulfill its task as a snack.
