Oops oops oops... when I saw that the six children all represented different races and nationalities I was seriously afraid of a morality à la The day the earth stood still: "Humanity must work together to make peace - or else…" But luckily that wasn't too bad.

Certainly not bad, but unnecessary, and the story offers nothing new as far as the children are concerned. Moreover, I miss an "emotional center": the duo Ian Hendry-Alan Badel misses the warm bond between George Sanders and Barbara Shelley that, in my opinion, gave the incomparably better predecessor its "heart". Positive points here are the beautiful camera work, the fun role of Alan Badel as a geneticist with cynical one-liners and the beautiful alienating scenes of first the children's journey and then Ian Hendry's pursuit of Barbara Ferris through an apparently deserted London.

Indeed not really a sequel and the story is much weaker than "Village of the Damned". Any questions you may have had after seeing the original are by no means answered here, on the contrary. It raises even more questions. The children seem to have no purpose at all. I also don't understand what the filmmakers wanted to prove with this. The most interesting was the international character of the children, but otherwise it lacks everything that made the original so strong.

A lot less than its predecessor, but still quite nice.
The good structure of the story and the mystery is much less present here than in the first film.
Perhaps logical, although the viewer also has a lot of questions here.
What was interesting was the different nationalities of the children and how people deal with these children who may well pose a threat to their existence. Some even saw power in possessing these children and using their knowledge to strengthen the country economically and militarily, which would ultimately lead to wars. On the other hand, it could be that the gifted children's goal (a kind of test) is to see whether the highly developed new human species can live together with humans. Nice philosophy
6/10
