Les Grandes Personnes plot

Every year, on the birthday of his daughter Jeanne, Albert takes her to another European country they have not yet visited. When she turned six years old, he chose a Swedish island. He tells the girl that he is convinced they will find the lost treasure of a legendary Viking there. Apparently two other people are present in the house that he has rented: Anika, the owner, and Christine, a French friend. And this causes the father's original plans to give way to something else, with which his daughter is not happy at all.

And just before the snowstorm takes hold of the Netherlands, a French holiday film about a father and his 16-year-old daughter who go to Sweden for their summer holidays.

The holiday doesn't seem to be getting off to a very good start: the house is double booked and it is necessary to live with two other French women.

Daughter has just stayed behind and is getting butterflies in her stomach, while Dad is hunting for a hidden Viking treasure with a metal detector.

Subtle humor, a holiday feeling (not necessarily just the pleasant aspects) in an extremely fine coming-of-age film.

Yesterday, the eponymous 1961 film, today this one. It quickly became clear that the films have nothing to do with each other, but besides that, the bar for ambition is also considerably lower in this one. This is more of a standard French holiday farce with just a tiny touch of Bonjour Tristesse thrown in to give Anais Demoustier something to do—but far too thin to make the film anything more than a standard French holiday farce. Such a father-in-law device, the poor thing. For a comedy, there's far too little to laugh at, unless you find counting plot holes hilarious—then you're completely out of your depth.
